Stevie Ray Vaughan: The Audio of Our 1989 Interview About Jimi Hendrix
SRV Talks About Jimi’s Influence, Blues Playing, and “Red House”
While an editor for Guitar Player magazine, I wrote a Jimi Hendrix cover story that included a Soundpage of a previously unreleased recording of “Red House,” taped on October 11, 1968, at Winterland.
While researching the article, I asked Stevie Ray Vaughan, Joe Satriani, and Jimi’s former bandmates Noel Redding and Billy Cox to share their perspectives on Jimi’s blues playing and the song “Red House.” Quotes from these conversations appeared as part of my May 1989 cover story.
Last August, I posted a transcription of my conversation with SRV as Stevie Ray Vaughan: Our 1989 Interview About Jimi Hendrix. I thought that some readers would enjoy hearing the conversation, so here it is:
In addition to speaking about Jimi, Stevie talks about what he was going through as he recorded his In Step album
Thanks to engineer/producer Nik Hunt for filming the intro and outro and enhancing the sound of the original master tape.
